These templates have been part of a system that has helped Thrivers before you book many thousands of consults.
Feel free to change the language within each message template to fit your personality.
But avoid changing the basic structure of the templates (because they simply work).
Before you reach out to someone it’s important to ask yourself, is this a potential client, a potential referral partner, or both.
Anyone you’re connected with, including your friends and family, can be your best referral partners. Because they care about you and believe in you.
And, sometimes friends or family can make great clients. We have had some friends and even family members become Thrive Members.
In each case, we had conversations with them saying that it’s important that our friendship comes before business.
And we let them know that if anything ever comes up, to please talk with us about it so that things don’t get weird.
If you have people on your Potential Clients List that you have reached out to, they may have not responded, or they may have not had the problem you help people to solve.
However, sometimes people need to hear from you more than once or twice. Sometimes they need to know that you really care about them.
You can imagine that your people are like seeds in the garden. As long as you keep adding your love (sunshine, water) they will sprout when they are ready.
Hey Name! I appreciated ____________(a post you saw of theirs on social media).
Just sending you a quick note to let you know I’m thinking of you and want the best for you, especially when it comes to _______ (result).
If you need any support with that (or anything else) I am here. 😊
Fortunately, you don’t need everyone to become your client. There are a LOT of people on this planet who would genuinely LOVE to work with you and be HONORED that you chose them to reach out to.
There is dignity in only having conversations with people who are respectful to you. So, if you continually feel like you’re bugging someone, you can simply take them off your list of Amazing Potential Clients.
That being said, before you give up on a relationship, it’s important to take an objective look at the situation. If you think someone is annoyed by you, they may be… or you may be projecting onto them… or they may just be having a bad day.
And, before you remove them from your Amazing Potential Clients list, it’s ideal to communicate courageously, using the 5 Elements.
You can write them or have a conversation where you say something like this:
Fire: Connection 🔥
If I’m bugging you I apologize. My connection with you is very important.
Earth: Service 🌍
My intention is to contribute to you in whatever way I can.
Metal: Acknowledge 💎
I think you’re _______(amazing) and I’d love to see you thrive.
Water: Curiosity 💧
But, if I’m rubbing you the wrong way, I’d love to know more.
Wood: Give them a Choice 🌱
And, if you don’t want my support, that’s totally fine as well.
And… if you’re noticing a pattern of people being bugged by you, then, you might want to inquire more about it...Are you making this up? Or, if you are bugging people, how are you coming across that is having that effect? What cues are you ignoring?
If you’re annoying people, it doesn’t mean that something is wrong with you or that you’re inherently annoying. It could just mean that you’re making one of the mistakes that people make when they’re trying to attract new clients.
1. Not using our Heart-Based, Proven Templates.
Most people are not taught how to have sales conversations. And, if they were taught, it was most likely a heavy-handed, manipulative sales system.
So if you’re just winging it, you might be unintentionally rubbing people the wrong way.
2. Using our Templates, but ignoring Lean-outs (which are inevitable).
If you are using our templates, might you be using them without really checking in for lean-in or lean-out?
Because any time you continue using our scripted template when your potential client is leaning out, it will come across as sales-y or annoying.
When there is a lean-out, it’s essential that you use the 5 elements to bring the lean in back… and return to our scripted templates only when the lean-in returns to an 8, 9 or 10.
Anyone who reaches out to anyone wants something. They might want friendship, they might want a date, they might want a business relationship.
But, anyone who reaches out to another human always wants something. There is nothing wrong with wanting something.
The question is: what do you want? If you are primarily seeing them as a number or a dollar sign, they will feel it. If your primary intent is to contribute to them, they will feel that also.
Before you reach out, it’s ideal to get clear about your heart’s true intent.
Then lead with that. If you’re 51% focused on serving them and 49% focused on inviting them to become a client, you’re in good shape to be able to contribute to their life.
Because ultimately, you got into this business because you believe that people becoming your client will ultimately serve them way more than a few private messages back and forth, right?
This is why business is a spiritual path. Because without an answer, you're left to wonder why they didn't respond.
If you have a kind and loving story, you won’t take it personally. You might wonder if your text was delivered.
Maybe they were super stressed or super busy, and wanted to respond, but just didn’t get to it.
Maybe they saw it, and responded but forgot to hit send. Or maybe their phone got stolen… who the heck knows.
But if you’re making it about you with thoughts like:
"They don’t like me." "They think I’m trying to sell them something." "I’m bugging them, etc." "These can be very painful..."
If you get triggered, it’s a great opportunity to do the inner work.
Doing this inner work over and over again is what makes you an amazing Transformational Leader.
Each time you do the inner work, it’s like polishing a stone that will shine more brightly.
